Uppingham has been twinned with the Normandy town of Caudebec-en-Caux since 1982. The relationship began in 1979 with a school visit and an inter-town football match, and it was formalised in an official charter three years later. Over the years many enjoyable exchanges have taken place and many families have formed great friendships with their foreign hosts. The usual pattern is that there is an exchange every two years to Uppingham or Caudebec, with activities and visits planned over an official twinning weekend. The Uppingham and District Twinning Association is always delighted to welcome new members. Do not be put off if you do not speak French. Some of the most sustained connections in the group are between partners who share little common language but who nonetheless enjoy happy times together and who appreciate the opportunity to experience another country and culture. La ville d’Uppingham est jumelée avec la ville normande de Caudebec-en-Caux depuis 1982. Le lien a commencé en 1979 avec un échange scolaire et un match de foot entre les deux villes. Au fil des années il y a eu beaucoup d’échanges conviviaux, et de nombreuses familles ont développé des amitiés profondes avec leurs hôtes étrangers. Normalement un échange a lieu tous les deux ans à Uppingham ou à Caudebec, avec des activités et des visites qui sont organisées lors d’un week-end officiel. Dans le groupe il y a des liens très forts entre des partenaires qui ont peu de langage en commun mais qui passent quand même de bons moments ensemble et qui aiment bien pouvoir découvrir un autre pays et une autre culture.
